Recovery Update
One week ago tonight, almost to the minute at which I started writing this post, I called 911 to get an ambulance to come and take my wife to the hospital because of the severe pain that she was in. Today, Jess was able to be taken off of some of the tubes and wires that she had post surgery and was also able to get up and walk 3-4 times; getting stronger each time she did it. She is still on a lot of antibiotics as they want to make sure they completely kill the infection. As a result she had a so-so day because of the nausea that she experiences from the medicine, as well as having a pretty empty stomach. A nurse also told us that it is a normal part of post surgery recovery to experience it as well and reassured us that she was doing very, very well. All in all, it was a pretty uneventful day, for which we praise God. I never thought that sitting by my wife’s bedside watching her sleep would become one of my favorite pastimes, but after all she has been through it is such a blessing to see her rest and to do so somewhat comfortably. We believe that we are still on track for Jess to come home on Monday; something that we are all very excited about. I can’t wait to be able to have here with us so that we can take care of her and wait on her. Today I read the following verse in Psalm 40:
(11) As for you, O LORD, you will not restrain your mercy from me; your steadfast love and your faithfulness will ever preserve me!
Truer words could not be spoken. I was overwhelmed as I read these words and recognized their truth in my life this past week and the awesomeness of the promise contained here for the weeks ahead. Good night for now.
